SELECTION CRITERIA

a. Composition: The Hall of Fame Committee should be composed of up to six (6) current Hall of Fame inductees, of which, one shall be appointed as the Chair by the LATA President. The five remaining members of the committee shall be appointed by the Committee Chair.

b. Purpose: Recognize and honor those members of our state who have served and demonstrated outstanding and unusual service to LATA and the profession of Athletic Training.

c. Committee Duties:

i. The committee shall set up qualifications, to review nominations for the Association’s Hall of Fame and then select the recipient(s) of this honor.

ii. This group of dedicated members of the LATA have the responsibility of maintaining the Hall of Fame display in the Superdome.

iii. The Hall of Fame Committee may petition the LATA Executive Committee to suspend the nomination/application/acceptance process as stated above due to extraordinary circumstances. The extraordinary circumstances include, but are not limited to terminal illness, loss of life, etc. that has incurred outside the established policy deadlines.

d. Eligibility for Nomination to the Hall of Fame:

i. The committee considers Athletic Trainers licensed in Louisiana under the LSBME and who are active members in good standing of the Louisiana Athletic Trainers’ Association.

1. Candidates must be nominated by an active LATA member.

2. A presentation may be made, but not necessary, to the committee by the nominating LAT.

ii. The committee uses the following in consideration of nominated candidates:

1. Practicing as an Athletic Trainer in Louisiana for minimum of 20 years unless otherwise prescribed by the HOF committee.

2. Service and/or involvement to the LATA is required of candidates.

a. Involvement may include, but is not limited to, service as a committee member, attending association meetings, holding office, etc.

3. Involvement may also include other AT affiliated organizations.

iii. Previous awards relating to Athletic Training in Louisiana.

iv. Any other civic or charitable organizational contribution deemed relevant to nominee may be included on nomination form.

e. Nomination of Candidates to the HOF:

i. Members looking to nominate a candidate for the Hall of Fame should fill out a HOF Nomination Form.

ii. Nominations must be complete and submitted by May 1st and sent to a standing member of the Hall of Fame committee. Current HOF committee members can be found on the LATA website.

f. Consideration of Candidates to the HOF:

i. Each nomination application must be verified by the Chair to validate the candidate's eligibility for consideration by May 15TH.

ii. Each application shall be reviewed by the committee during the scheduled Hall of Fame Committee Meeting held during the LATA Summer Symposium.

iii. All discussions of candidates by the committee are to remain CONFIDENTIAL.

iv. The committee then determines if any of the submitted candidates’ merits induction into the Hall of Fame by a majority vote of the HOF committee members.

g. Notification of Committee Decision(s) to the HOF.

h. The HOF Committee Chair shall inform the LATA President of any AT member selected for induction into the LATA Hall of Fame.

The President shall then inform the honoree(s) of their selection for the LATA Hall of Fame and provide necessary information regarding the Induction Ceremony (Each honoree may receive up to eight (8) tickets to the Induction Ceremony.)

Document will be adopted by HOF committee and reside with them until LATA bylaws / pol-pro process adopts the protocol within itself.
